The Attorney-General’s Lecture 2026 brought together members of the legal community for a focused discussion on the importance of the international rules-based order and the continuing role of the rule of law in supporting global stability, cooperation and accountability. 

Organised by the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the lecture was delivered by The Rt Hon Lord Richard Hermer KC, Attorney General for England and Wales and Advocate General for Northern Ireland. The session addressed the unprecedented strain facing the international rules-based system, while highlighting the benefits that the rule of law and international rules-based order continue to bring to the global community. The lecture also underscored the vital leadership role that countries such as Singapore and the United Kingdom can play in upholding these principles.
