As part of this year’s Speak Mandarin Campaign, the Promote Mandarin Council launched a significant bilingual publication titled “从石叻坡到新加坡——新加坡华语资料库”. This comprehensive work contains 1,131 unique Singaporean Mandarin terms, each with cultural and historical significance. The database provides detailed information on the origins, evolution, and examples of these terms, showcasing Singapore’s diverse racial and linguistic heritage. This book is not only a valuable language asset but also plays an important role in reflecting the collective memory of Singaporean Chinese. The publication is available in public libraries and can also be accessed online.

In preparation for the launch event, the launch mechanism was meticulously designed and crafted to unveil both volumes of the database which span over 1,600 pages. Arrangements were also made to include a dragon dance performance to engage the audience.
